In order to qualify for Social Security Disability, you have to be found disabled under their rules. In summary, you have to have a condition that meets their criteria that will or is expected to keep you from working for at least one year.

Social Security Disability Qualifications The Social Security blue book “listings” are a list of disabling conditions. If you meet the criteria for one of these, you’re considered disabled. For example, I have a cochlear implant. If I did not have one, I would be deaf, and I would qualify under the listings. If you don’t meet a listing, you’ll have to argue your case on another theory, such as, the combination of your impairments at least meets one of their listings.
